As a south Fulton incorporation bill begins its journey through the General Assembly, Fulton County Commissioner Marvin Arrington has been conducting a web poll to determine whether his constituents in unincorporated areas want to form a new city.
At a community meeting Thursday night, Arrington said he received more than 800 responses. About 41 percent “strongly agreed” with the statement “I am comfortable with unincorporated Fulton remaining unincorporated.” Another 13 percent “somewhat agreed” with that statement. Arrington said 21 percent said they “strongly disagreed” with remaining unincorporated, while 9.7 percent “somewhat disagreed.” About 15 percent were unsure or neutral.
The poll is not scientific, so it's hard to draw any conclusions about public sentiment on the issue. But if you're interested, you can find the full survey results here.
The only poll that’s likely to matter is the one taken at the voting booth. The bill would allow residents to vote on forming a new city later this year. Voters in unincorporated south Fulton overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to form a new city in 2007.
