More Americans are pulling for the Falcons than the Patriots in the Super Bowl on Sunday but they don't think the Falcons are going to win.
That's according to the results of a Morning Consult poll released on Thursday. The survey found that 43 percent of Americans want the Falcons to win compared to 26 percent who are pulling for the Patriots (31 percent of respondents had no opinion or weren't sure). However, 38 percent of people said they think the Patriots will win and 32 percent believe the Falcons will pull the upset.
One subset of people believes the Falcons will win: 39 percent of respondents aged 30 to 44 favor the Falcons compared to 35 percent for the Patriots. Also, 46 percent of overall poll respondents said they have a favorable view of the Falcons compared to 38 percent who said the same about the Patriots.
The Patriots are favored by three points over the Falcons. The FiveThirtyEight computer model gives the Falcons a 39 percent chance of winning while Football Outsiders puts their chances at 41 percent.
The Morning Consult poll of 2,200 adults was conducted from Jan. 26-28 and has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points.
