Four Questions with Whitefield Academy coach Quinn Gray

GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.

Quinn Gray, Whitefield Academy

1. What is the most memorable game you've been a part of as a player or coach? "My most memorable game as a coach was my very first one as a coach back in 2010. It was the school rival, and we weren't expected to even be competitive. Our kids went out and gave us the game of their lives. And despite that we lost 21-20, at that point I fell in love with the high school game."

2. Which high school coach would you want your son to play for, and why? "I would want my son to play for my father because he was one of the most influential coaches that I've ever seen in my life. He took inner-city kids and gave them a purpose and something to strive for, and for that I wish my father was still living to coach his grandsons." [Otis Gray Jr. led Dillard High of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to state titles in 1986 and 1989 and was the high school coach of NFL stars Lorenzo White and Isaac Bruce.]

3. What is your pet peeve as a coach or favorite saying/motto? "Lazy kids and kids that think they better than what they really are. Those are my pet peeves when it comes to being a coach because my motto to my athletes is simple: 'If you're an un-coachable athlete, you'll probably be an un-hirable employee.'"

4. Which GHSA policy or high school football rule would you most like to see changed? "The contact rules that have recently come into play are a bit much. I understand safety, but we play a game that requires contact."
