Good news: The Northwest Corridor express lanes project is halfway done. The bad news: Your commute won’t get any easier.

Road work will clog up your evening commute along I-75 southbound with multiple road closures and a detour. The closures will allow for continued bridge and road construction.

The Georgia Department of Transportation will close three left lanes between Delk Road and Windy Hill Road between 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.

The triple lane closure will end midnight, but additional lane closures may happen from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Drivers heading southbound on I-75 will have to detour off the interstate and rejoin I-75 at the Delk Road exit.

I-75 southbound lanes between Delk Road and Windy Hill Road will permanently shift east. Three lanes will shift onto newly constructed express lanes.

Crews are also working on the Windy Hill Road exit ramp and working on a new ramp that will extend onto the express lanes.

The Northwest Corridor project will add nearly 30 miles of reversible toll lanes along I-75 and I-575.

Driver should expect heavy delays and are advised to pay close attention to law enforcement and traffic signs.
