As The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported last week, the Atlanta Braves and Cobb County have developed extensive plans to get motorists to SunTrust Park for games. For those who don't want to drive, they've also developed a partnership with the Uber ride-sharing service.
There's a reason they've paid so much attention to people arriving in cars: They expect nearly everyone to arrive that way.
Here’s a breakdown of how fans are expected to arrive at SunTrust, courtesy of the county’s transportation plan for SunTrust Park:
Personal vehicle: 82%
Taxi/rideshare: 6%
Charter bus: 2%
Transit: 1%
Corporate shuttles: 5%
Pedestrian/bicyclists: 4%
One thing that jumps out: Cobb County expects more people to arrive on foot or bike than by mass transit. That's in part because there are limited transit options for getting to the park.
