Actress and animal rights activist Bo Derek will be in Atlanta this week on behalf of Fix Georgia Pets , an organization committed to ending animal overpopulation (and the euthanasia that can unfortunately result) by supporting spaying/neutering programs statewide.

Bo will meet and greet two and four-legged friends at City Dog Market, 4244 Peachtree Rd NE in Brookhaven, at 12:30 p.m. Thursday. She has a line of pet care products, Bo Derek Pet Care, available at City Dog Market and other retailers.

Thursday evening, she'll be the honored guest at a fundraiser at the home of  Ginny and Guy Millner Co-chaired by Joanne Chesler Gross and Alison Womack Jowers, the evening will include dining, cocktails, and an auction to support Fix Georgia Pets.

"Bo Derek has shown a lifelong commitment to helping animals, including wild horses in the American West and other vulnerable creatures," Gross said.  "In Georgia, only 57 percent of the cats and dogs that enter our state shelters are saved. Fix Georgia Pets's focus is on assisting underserved communities with spay/neuter programs to reduce dog and cat overpopulation, thereby reducing the number of pets that enter our state's shelters. By partnering with local communities, we can save more pets across the state."

The evening will salute longtime supporter  Marilyn Krone.
