No more selfies, film festival decrees

Enough with the selfies, says the Cannes Film Festival.

Festival director Thierry Fremaux and president Pierre Lescure have outlawed the practice saying it slows things down and diminishes the experience.

In an interview with le f ilm francai s magazine, Fremaux called disparaged the selfie as the lowest of art forms.

“Ridiculous and grotesque,” he declared. "You never look as ugly as you do in a selfie."

Here in freedom-loving America, we don't ban selfies, as Ellen DeGeneres and friends illustrated during the 2014 Academy Awards.
