Daily Stormer, a site for and by racist nut jobs, supposedly been taken over by the shadowy hacker network known as Anonymous as punishment for a sickening post about Charlottesville victim Heather Heyer.
"We have had the Daily Stormer in our sites for months now," Anonymous wrote. "The events of Charlottesville alerted us to the need for immediate action. We want you Nazis to know: your time is short. We will allow the site to remain online for 24 hours so the world can witness the hate. Then we will shut it down permanently."
Anonymous says via Twitter that the hack is a hoax.
The site's content includes asinine posts such as the article titled "Starbucks Managers Interview Somalis with Latent Tuberculosis for Jobs as Part of Jewish Chairman’s Plan to Destroy America."
The site also congratulating people who brought chaos to Charlottesville with a delusional post that crowed, "To those of you in Charlottesville, go out and enjoy yourselves. If you’re at a bar in a group, random girls will want to have sex with you."
The post denigrating Heyer, 32, killed when a car plowed through a group of pedestrians at the Charlottesville protest/counter protest on Saturday, supposedly led Anonymous to take over and set its sights on the article's author.
"We are sending our allies in Lagos to pay him a visit in person," Anonymous wrote. "This evil cannot be allowed to stand."
Incidentally Daily Stormer traffics not only in incendiary rhetoric and fantasy but fake news. A past post purported that a metro area gun shop had started selling a particular firearm with Nazi sympathizers in mind, and offered Daily Stormer members a discount. A 10-second Google search dispelled that myth. We're not linking to that piece either.
It'll be gone soon, anyway, either taken down by hackers or kicked to the curb by its server, Go Daddy:
