But before June ends .... Teachers: A Class for You on Bees, Water Conservation and Farm-to-School

On Friday, May 27, the Cherokee County Extension, Cherokee County Farm Bureau, Upper Etowah River Alliance and Buckeye Creek Farm present a free day-long workshop for teachers, paraprofessionals, nutrition staff and school administrators. The day starts with a discussion of the USDA farm-to-school program and tour of the cafe at Woodstock Elementary School. The it’s off to farm for lunch and sessions on building a school garden in a raised bed, beekeeping and water conservation. You Can’t Miss the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival

The 2016 version of the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival invites you to "eat. drink. Southern." and for four days you can indulge in the 85 classes, sample treats from chefs from all over the Southeast in the three Tasting Tent sessions and attend thirteen delicious dinners and parties. We're not sure you can do all of it, but you can try. This year's event features a "Vineyard in the City" which will stay in place for a month for private events and community use. Events start at noon on Thursday, June 2 and run through the closing of the Tasting Tents on Sunday, June 5. Ticket prices range from $45 for Sunday Brunch to a $585 three-day pass. And beyond. Enjoy Street Eats at Virginia-Highland Summerfest

Before or after hanging out at the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, you can wander over to Virginia-Highland for the 33rd annual celebration of art, food and fun. Food vendors ranging from traditional festival foods like funnel cakes to the offerings of local restaurants. And there'll be beer, lots of beer. All this arranged up and down Virginia Avenue ready to feed those hungry stomachs and quench that thirst. Savory Spice on Highland Avenue will be set up on the sidewalk outside the shop with a prize wheel that offers freebies and discounts and handing out samples of treats made with Savory Spice products. Picnic in a New Park

Decatur's Wyle Center is hosting its first Picnic in the Park. "You bring the basket. We'll bring the beer." The picnic will be held in the center's newest acquisition, Hawk Hollow Garden in Oakhurst. There'll be picnic tables or you can bring your own blanket, live music, games and beers. Grow. Bake. Make. Swap.

Every other month, Homestead Atlanta hosts a Food Swap where anyone can come and bring food they've grown or homemade treats to swap. You come with four dozen of your famous oatmeal scones, wrapped in bundles of four, and you swap for a jar of someone's homemade tomato sauce or a basket of chanterelles foraged from deep in the woods. The location moves around the city. This month, the swap is at the Beltline Shed at Ponce City Market. Free. Sunday, June 5. 3 – 4:30pm. Hang Out with Linton Hopkins. Sleep in Style.

Each year Serenbe offers a Southern Chef Series with Atlanta celebrity chefs such as Ford Fry and Anne Quatrano. In June, the star chef is Linton Hopkins of Restaurant Eugene, Holeman & Finch Public House, Linton's in the Garden, H & F Burger .... the list goes on and on. Check in at 3pm on Sunday, June 5, to one of the new luxury rooms at the Main House at Serenbe. At 4pm, show up in Marie Nygren's kitchen to begin your cooking class with Hopkins. Everyone will dine together on what they've prepared. The next morning, breakfast is served at 8 a.m. and at 10 a.m., you're back in Nygren's kitchen for lesson number two and lunch. $695 per guest. Eat Lunch in a “TreeHouse”

Step one. Go to Krog Street Market and pick up lunch. Step two. Walk across Krog to the Trees Atlanta TreeHouse and settle in to learn something about our forest in a city. In June, botanical illustrator and Trees Atlanta volunteer Teri Nye will introduce the art and science of documenting nature with field sketches. It's a class for beginners and experts. Take a Trip to Greece

No plans to travel to Greece this summer? Then sample the wines and regional cuisine from here at home. Atlanta Wine School is offering "Viva Greece! The Wines and Tastes of Greece." You'll learn Greek pronunciation, get to know the wines produced in different regions of Greece and sample up to eight different ones. Light nibbles including olives, cheeses and charcuterie will be served and there just could be Lamb Lollipops with a yogurt-rosemary sauce. $59. Eat the Foods of Spain. Help the Atlanta Community Food Bank.

On June 27, you can imagine yourself summering in Spain. Eric Roberts, executive chef of Iberian Pig, will prepare a meal of Spanish cured meats, tapas, salads and flatbreads. You'll sample Roberts' dishes and the evening includes wine tastings from Sherlock's Wine Merchant as well as a chance to win door prizes. All proceeds go to the Atlanta Community Food Bank with the chefs donating their time and the ingredients for dinner and The Cook's Warehouse donating the space. $55.
