A MARTA station might not be the first place you'd think of to stock up on produce for the week, but the Fresh MARTA Market initiative is making it easy for commuters -- especially those living in lower income areas -- to keep their diet healthy.
In their second year, the weekly pop-up markets -- developed in partnership with the USDA and the Atlanta Community Food Bank -- offer prduce from local farms including West End Community Urban Garden Nursery, Oakland City Community Gardens, Grow Where You Are and Mayflor Farms.
Customers are able to purchase produce with cash, and will also be able to double the amount of produce they can purchase per dollar with the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
New this year is a Fresh MARTA Market at the Five Points station, celebrated at a ribbon cutting today Atlanta councilmember Cleta Winslow and representatives from MARTA, USDA, the Atlanta Community Food Bank and Community Farmers Markets.

West End Station
3-7 p.m., Tuesdays through Dec. 6
Five Points Station
3-7 p.m., Fridays through Dec. 9 (closed Thanksgiving Day)
College Park Station
3-7 p.m., Thursdays, Nov. 3-Dec. 8 (closed Thanksgiving Day)
H.E. Holmes
3-7 p.m., Wednesdays, Nov. 9-Dec. 7
