Who’s your chef?
David Gross, executive chef of Cook Hall , dishes about what foods he would every day; inspiration for becoming a chef; and more in this edition of "3 questions with."
If you could eat one thing every day for a year, what would it be?
Pizza or pasta. I could eat either 24-7. We get pretty creative in the restaurant, so we make all kinds of things with dough like pepperoni balls. I’ve weighed 185 pounds my entire life despite the amount of bread I eat. After pizza or pasta, I could eat chocolate every day.
What do you think is the next neighborhood to be labeled a foodie hotspot?
It’s hard for me to say, but up north, perhaps even further than Alpharetta. There are so many cycles in a neighborhoods, but they seem to change every two years. It’s like a facelift.
If there is one person you could cook in the kitchen with right now, who would it be?
My mom. She cooked everything. In part, she inspired me to become a chef. We canned, pickled and grounded our meats.
BONUS: When you’re not at Cook Hall, where do you dine in Atlanta?
I like One Eared Stag. I like what [the chef] over there does . It's a little off the wall, but is done really well. I like no. 246 a lot because it's very homey and casual. It's always awesome and it's one of my faves. I've also been going to Little Bangkok for the longest time. I love Thai food.
