Staplehouse will be having a pre-Thanksgiving à la carte, no reservation party, which will take over the patio, bar and dining room on Wednesday night:

Spend time with us before you spend time with your family. Wednesday night, 11/25/15, join us for tacos and an a la carte menu. Walk in. No reservations required.

One of most the highly anticipated Atlanta restaurants in recent memory, the Staplehouse concept is unique in a number of ways.

Most important, it functions as a for-profit subsidiary of the Giving Kitchen , a not-for-profit charity that provides emergency grants to metro Atlanta restaurant workers.

Since it opened in late September, guests in the main dining room have been served chef Ryan Smith's five-course tasting menu ($85) at tables reserved by purchasing tickets in advance using the online Tock system. But if you wanted to grab a bite or a drink on the patio or at the bar, it was first come, first served, with an à la carte menu, and no need to purchase a ticket.

In a phone call this morning, Staplehouse co-founder and business manager Jen Hidinger acknowledged that the reservation system was still a bit confusing for some guests — adding that going forward the team would be looking into streamlining things a bit more, and perhaps creating a single à la carte menu for patio, bar and dining room, in addition to the tasting menu.
