National Nachos Day: Deals, recipes and where to try nachos around metro Atlanta

Crunchy tortilla chips smothered in melted cheese and covered in meats, veggies and beans? Count us in. Celebrate National Nachos Day (Nov. 6) with these deals, places to eat nachos and recipes for making your own. 

Customers are advised to check with locations ahead of time to ensure they’re participating in National Nacho Day promotions. 

Deals and specials

El Taco. From 5-10 p.m. on Nov. 6, stop by El Taco for build-your-own nachos. Pile on toppings such as fried jalapenos, avocado and elote with the Nacho Libre menu starting at $10. Specialty cocktails and drinks weill also be on hand, including the Tormentoso Cantarita and pineapple-infused tequila shots.

Moe’s Southwest Grill. Moe’s Reward Members can visit their local Moe’s Southwest Grill or order online to eat nachos for $4.99.

On the Border. The Mexican eatery will offer half-price Stacked Nachos made with ground beef, refried beans and queso, lime crema, pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños and guacamole or Grande Fajita Nachos made with refried beans, fajita chicken or steak and melted mixed cheese with guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo and pickled jalapeños. This offer is available for dine-in only. Prices and participation may vary at On The Border locations.

Red Pepper Taqueria. All three locations will offer the restaurant’s 10-topping steak nachos, normally $17, for $5.

Willy’s Mexicana Grill. The chain will offer $6 nachos in honor of National Nacho Day. The offer is valid in-store only, and is not valid with other coupons or promotions. All Willy’s locations will participate except for the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Peachtree Center and AT&T Midtown locations.

Nachos to try in metro Atlanta 

Dos Bocas. This newly-opened Cajun-meets-Tex-Mex restaurant features a Nachos Picadillo, made with seasoned ground beef, beans, queso, sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole.

El Myr. This Little Five Points mainstay offers a variety of nacho options. Start with a base of chips, melted cheese, lettuce, salsa fresca, red onions, jalapenos and sour cream and add on your choice of beans, grilled chicken, tofu, smoked pork, grilled shrimp, grilled steak or hit up the “pepper lovers” topped with bell peppers, green chiles, banana peppers and jalapenos.

La Parrilla. Choose from three kinds of nachos at this Mexican spot with several locations around metro Atlanta. The Nachos Grandes comes with chips topped with beans, seasoned shredded chicken or ground beef, lettuce, diced tomatoes, cheese dip and sour cream; the Grilled Nachos are served with peppers, onions, lettuce, cheese dip, sour cream, guacamole and diced tomatoes and your choice of grilled steak, shrimp, chicken or Texas-style with all three proteins; and the Nachos con Cheese Dip and Jalapenos with your choice of beans, shredded chicken or ground beef.

Melton’s App and Tap. Neighborhood bar Melton’s has a nacho variety for every taste, including Philly-Style Nachos topped with melted cheeses, sautéed onions, green peppers, mushrooms, Italian roast beef, tomatoes, scallions and sour cream; Chicken and Black Bean Nachos; Veggie Nachos topped with cheese and a variety of veggies including mushrooms, artichokes and broccoli; and Chili Cheese Nachos that use hot chips as a base, covered with chili shredded jack and cheddar cheeses, diced jalapenos, onions, lettuce and sour cream. For something really different, try the Irish Nachos, which sub out tortilla chips for waffle fries and are topped with 

shredded cheddar and mozzarella, crumbled bacon, diced jalapenos, scallions and ranch dressing.

Nacho Daddy. With the word “nacho” in its name, would you expect anything less than tons of tasty nacho options at this Parsons Alley spot? The menu features no less than 14 nacho varieties, including “Traditional Tastes” such as the Chicken Tinga Nachos and the Supreme Tostada Nachos; “Mexican-American Collisions” including the Southern Fried Chicken Nachos and the Buffalo Hot Nachos; and “Exotics” such as the Filet Mignon Nachos and the Thai Chicken Nachos.

Superica. Ford Fry’s Tex-Mex spot’s nachos come topped with beans and cheese, jalapeños, guacamole and sour cream. Add fajita grilled chicken or steak for extra protein.

Taxco Restaurante Mexicana. Nacho options here some include beans and cheese and fajita chicken or beef, but the big ticket item in the Nachos Compuestos served with beans, rice, chicken, beef, lettuce, guacamole, sour cream and tomatoes.

Tin Lizzy’s. This Atlanta chain’s nachos start with black beans, jack cheese, queso blanco, pico de gallo, jalapeños, cilantro and sour cream. Then, add your choice of grilled or fried chicken, pork, shrimp, steak, ground beef  or Beyond Meat plant protein.
