The second location of a popular Atlanta Mexican restaurant is set to open to the public tomorrow.

Alma Cocina Buckhead will be located at the corner of Peachtree Street and Piedmont Avenue in the Terminus building. Alma Cocina Downtown opened in 2012 at 191 Peachtree St.

Plans for a second location were announced in January 2018.

It's the latest venture from Fifth Group Restaurants, the hospitality company behind metro Atlanta restaurants South City Kitchen Vinings, Midtown, Avalon and Buckhead; La Tavola Trattoria; The Original El Taco; Lure; Ecco in Buckhead and Midtown; and Bold Catering and Design.

Alma Cocina Buckhead will open for dinner service only and roll out lunch and weekend brunch service on Monday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 15, respectively.

Executive chef Chad Clevenger’s menu will use “local ingredients, traditional techniques and Latin American flavors,” according to a press release, with dishes including the masa fried shrimp with apple-celery root slaw and arbol mayo and chile en nogada, a poblano pepper filled with fried cauliflower, black beans, butternut squash, pomegranate and walnut sauce. The Buckhead menu will be similar in style to the downtown location though individual items will vary.

The beverage program will showcase agave and other Latin American spirits including pisco, mezcal and rum. Featured cocktails will include “customizable and interactive elements” such as tequila cubes, a selection of tequilas paired with infused ice cubes such as morello cherry, cara-cara orange, cassis and mint.

New at the Buckhead location will be weekend brunch service on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Menu items will include a breakfast burrito smothered in salsa verde with scrambled eggs, chihuahua cheese, chorizo and pico de gallo; tres leches French toast topped with mixed berries, passion fruit maple syrup, toasted coconut and whipped cream; and capirotada, a savory bread pudding with chorizo, rajas, chihuahua cheese, sunny-side eggs, salsa ranchero and cilantro.

Designed by Atlanta’s ASD|SKY, Alma Cocina Buckhead will offer patio seating with design elements including wood, concrete and steel slats offset by plants and corten planters.

Alma Cocina Buckhead will be open for lunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday; dinner from 5-10 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 5-11 p.m. Friday-Saturday; and weekend brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. The bar menu will be served from 3-5 p.m. daily.
