Popular Inman Park food and beverage concepts Rathbun’s and Krog Bar, both from chef and restaurateur Kevin Rathbun, have closed their doors.
The closures, first reported by Tomorrow's News Today, were confirmed by Rathbun on May 11.
“I hate to lose my first baby. I had such a good run here,” Rathbun said of Rathbun’s, which opened in 2004 at 112 Krog Street. That followed the next year by wine bar and small plate spot Krog Bar in the same vicinity. The latter is slated to be torn down to accommodate parking for Krog Street Market, according to Rathbun.
Rathbun said he had attempted to renegotiate leases for the last 10 months with Asana, the real estate company that owns the property. In the end, the parties could not come to terms.
“I have ideas for the future of Krog Bar,” Rathbun said. He owns property next to the steakhouse and envisions turning that into a two-story eatery that could encompass both Krog Bar and Rathbun’s.
Rathbun also owns Kevin Rathbun Steak, also on Krog Street, and KR Steakbar in Atlanta’s Peachtree Hills neighborhood. He’s also a partner in Kaiser’s Chophouse in Sandy Springs. He anticipates reopening those restaurants by June.
The restaurant group will continue to honor all gift cards at KR Steakbar and Kevin Rathbun Steak.
