They say that the way to a person's heart is through their stomachs. But when there are two cooks in a relationship, sometimes that path can be a little tough to navigate.
AJC food editor Ligaya Figueras examines her own marriage through the lens of sharing a kitchen, something that was fairly easy at their home in St. Louis, but has become more of a challenge since her and her husband moved to Atlanta.
"Seemingly every day, I come home from work to find a slight change, such as a Dutch oven moved from a lower cabinet to a shelf so high I have to climb a stool to reach it," she writes. "If we were going to see a marriage counselor about his grievous misdeed, I’d mention that my husband smirked when I told him that his new system required me to find a stool."
How do they end up resolving their issues?
On the flip side of the love coin, she also talks to Laura Curtis and Paris Retana, an Atlanta couple that works in such harmony in the kitchen that they’ve made a sweet business out of it.
They own Malvi Marshmallow Confections, whose products are sold online and stores like the Spotted Trotter at Krog Street Market, Wahoo Food & Provisions in Decatur and numerous Whole Foods locations.
So, what's their secret?
