Good news, sandwich lovers -- Zunzi's is open in Atlanta

A popular Savannah sandwich shop is making its debut in Atlanta today.

Hot counter-service restaurant Zunzi’s is now open at 1971 Howell Mill Road in the Collier Hills neighborhood, in a space previously occupied by Salsa Havana.

Founded by Gabriella and Johnny DeBeer in 2005, Zunzi’s often has lines around the block at its location on East York Street in Savannah for its South African-inspired sub sandwiches, including the Godfather —  a combination of chicken and South African sausage — and the Conquistador — a baked chicken sandwich served with special sauce — as well as veggie sandwiches and sides.

Zunzi’s was purchased from the DeBeers in 2014 by Chris Smith, John Hooff Sr. and John Hooff Jr.
The menu for the Atlanta location, which is very similar to the Savannah location, can be seen here.
