Those looking to get schooled in food and beer while reliving their days as a kid in a classroom can look forward to Public School 404. The gastropub is slated to open in summer, 2016 at 930 Howell Mill Road in The Brady complex in Westside.
Atlanta and Denver are the latest Public School locations that hospitality group Grill Concepts announced this week as part of a nationwide expansion of the brand. Public School also has locations in California, Nevada and Texas, each outpost denoted by its area code. Besides Public School, Grill Concepts operates The Grill on the Alley, Daily Grill and In Short Order.
The PS 404 menu will offer elevated twists on school kid favorites from brown bag fries to bacon cheddar tots with Sriracha ketchup to a lamb burger beefed up with tomato-cranberry jam, arugula and Brie.
Craft brews will take over the tap handles, with more than half of the draft selection to feature rotating seasonal and regional suds. The full-service bar will also offer wine and cocktails. Happy hour, dubbed “recess,” will bring discounts on select food items.
The quirky school theme will carry over into the décor. Among other things, look for school equipment to be used as part of art installations throughout the nearly 5,000-square-foot space as well as an outdoor patio.
