Celebrate a restaurant’s first birthday

Help Virginia-Highland restaurant Whiskey Bird celebrate its first anniversary with a whole pig roast and food and drink specials. Look for made-to-order bubble waffle sundaes, okonomiyaki fries and $5 Whiskey Bird Sours available for purchase. The restaurant will also give away two $50 gift cards.

Raise a glass to the Sakuras

Westside sushi spot O-Ku is hosting a party in honor of the bloom of Japan’s Sakura trees. Enjoy complimentary passed tastings of spring menu items, cherry blossom-infused cocktails, live entertainment and cherry blossom-inspired decor. The Sakura festivities will kick off at 9 p.m., but regular dinner service will be offered all evening.

Meet your local farmers

Mix and mingle with the people who grow your food at the family-friendly CSA Fair and Farmer Mixer, hosted by Atlanta Farmers Coalition and Wholesome Wave Georgia. Get to know local farmers and learn about CSAs (Community Supported Agriculture), which offer weekly boxes of fresh produce.

Tee up for tasty bites

Celebrate the start of spring and golf season at the Optimist’s Par-TEE on the Green. Held on the restaurant’s patio, the event will feature bites including deviled eggs with crispy oysters and peel and eat shrimp, specialty drinks (two per ticket) and the Masters tournament projected on the big screen. Participants can also try out the 1-hole putt-putt course for an additional $5 per player — the top three guests to hit their ball closest to the hole will win prizes, with the top golfer getting dinner for two at the Optimist.

Get to know your oysters

Gain a deeper appreciation for oysters and learn how to prepare and shuck them like a pro at home during Drift Fish House & Oyster Bar Oyster 101 Workshop. Explore oyster farming (aquaculture), oyster etiquette, flavor profiles, history and sustainability with chef/owner Doug Turbush and sous chef Will Puryear.  Taste six raw oyster varieties; tasting sheets and wheels will be provided. Participants 21 and older will also get a glass of sparkling wine.

Butter up with spice

Chef Jernard Wells, who has appeared on “Cutthroat Kitchen” and “Food Network Star,” will do a live cooking demo using Georgia-made Infusion Blends spice-infused butters, which are now being sold in Kroger stores. He’ll also sign copies of his new cookbook, “Southern Modified.”

Stem Wine Bar is joining forces with Cakebread Cellars for a five-course wine pairing dinner. Look for pairings including Szechuan-cured Bay of Fundy salmon with 2016 Cakebread Napa Valley Chardonnay and braised pork cheek estofado with 2014 Cakebread Merlot.

Two chefs join forces

Zach Meloy of Better Half and Zeb Stevenson of Watershed on Peachtree are joining forces for a collaborative dinner. The night starts with a cocktail reception, followed by a six-course dinner with wine pairings.
