Athens' Creature Comforts Brewing Co. does a lot of good in the community, including its ongoing Get Comfortable campaign that aims to connect local businesses with agencies addressing pressing needs around children, food and poverty.

In June 2018, Creature Comforts launched another initiative called Get Artistic to “support the arts in its many forms—visual art, performance, music, writing—with an initial emphasis on local art.”

Not surprisingly, Get Comfortable is fueled by the limited release of Get Comfortable IPA. And now Get Artistic is fueled by the limited release of Get Artistic Pale Ale, which is this week’s Beer Pick.

Get Artistic Pale Ale 2019

Available in limited release on draft and in 4-packs of 16-ounce cans

Profile

Creature Comforts describes Get Artistic Pale Ale as “inspired by the beverage of gallery openings everywhere: white wine.” And with that, the company is dedicating 100% of the profits from the the beer to the Get Artistic fund, which helps support artists and artistic endeavors in the community.

Get Artistic is made with Nelson Sauvin and Hallertau Blanc hops, which impart some of the flavors, aromas and fruitiness of white wine, including notes of elderflower, grapes, grapefruit and lemongrass.

At 5.5% alcohol, it’s slightly hazy, and bright, light and refreshing, with a smooth dry finish. As styles go, it’s certainly more of a modern pale ale, rather than a classic American pale ale.

Pair with

Try Get Artistic with art opening snacks, like cheese and crackers and tea sandwiches. But like many white wines, it would do well with seafood, chicken, pork, or a wide variety of lighter Asian dishes, too.
