Lalah Hathaway talks concert, live CD

Lalah Hathaway recently performed two sold out shows at Center Stage in Atlanta.

The shows coincided with the release of her "Lalah Hathaway Live" CD project,  which includes covers of Anita Baker’s “Angel” and the iconic “Little Ghetto Boy” by her father, Donny Hathaway.

She recorded the song earlier this year at the the historic Troubadour in Los Angeles , the same place where her father recorded part of his 1972 album, " Donny Hathaway Live."

Hathaway told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she always knew that one day she would record that song, and the selection of that venue to record “Little Ghetto Boy” was really a no-brainer.

“It was like sacred space to me,” she said.

While in town, Hathaway was also presented with a proclamation by Atlanta Councilman Andre Dickens.

The proclamation read:

Now Therefore Be It Resolved that, We, the members of the Atlanta City Council and on behalf of the citizens of Atlanta hereby honor and recognize Lalah Hathaway as her career continues to rejuvenate with new beginnings and possibilities. We now therefore proclaim this day, the 29th Day of October, 2015 as “Lalah Hathaway Day” in our great city.

While there's no redo button if you missed the show, all is not lost. I didn't make the show either but I  heard it was great!  The AJC can at least show you what you missed. Photo credit: Tiffany Powell Photography
