Flux Night, the major Atlanta annual outdoor arts event that was postponed due to heavy rains on Oct. 3, has been rescheduled.
Presenter Flux Projects has announced that Flux Night 2015: Dream will take place 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 7 in the Old Fourth Ward, including the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site.
All of the dozen originally announced public art projects curated by Nato Thompson, chief curator of Creative Time in New York, will be featured. “We appreciate the tremendous support from our community in the rescheduling of this event due to the inclement weather last weekend and we look forward to audiences experiencing Dream to its fullest,” Flux Projects executive director Anne Dennington said.
"Flux Night 2015: Dream" will be presented from 7 p.m.-midnight Nov. 7. Free. Old Fourth Ward along Auburn and Edgewood avenues and Boulevard between Jackson and Howell streets. Organizers recommend taking MARTA (King Memorial station is closest), Atlanta Streetcar or biking (Atlanta Bicycle Coalition will host an onsite bike valet). fluxnight2015dream.org.
Beep Beep Gallery planning to close
Beep Beep Gallery, a leading alternative space that has presented countless emerging and established artists since 2006, is planning to shut its Midtown doors at the end of the year.
In an interview with Creative Loafing, founders James McConnell and Mark Basehore told Gavin Godfrey that their focus had flagged some after nine years of operating the storefront space.
"There’s still good work, good art, it’s just the gallery itself; we’re not satisfied with it. We’d rather push off and leave it in a place where we’re really proud of it than just let it dwindle away," McConnell said.
