If you like sunshine and dry weather, you’ll like the way the start of October is shaping up for metro Atlanta.
The first few weeks of the month look to be dry and comfortable with cool mornings and afternoons in the 70s and low 80s, according to Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan. The city can expect to enjoy about 10 hours of sun Tuesday, and that should be the case all the way into the weekend.
“Outdoor plans, they are good today,” Monahan said. “Patchy morning clouds, and then a nice day today. Temperatures this afternoon will climb into the upper 70s.”
After a start in the mid-50s, Atlanta can expect to reach a high of 78 on Tuesday afternoon, he said. There will be very little change in the forecast this week as the region stays dry and temperatures hold at average levels.
“A mostly sunny sky is in the forecast today,” Monahan said. “Just some fair-weather clouds scooting by to the south, so for the most part we’re looking at sunshine this afternoon. Mainly clear tonight; it will be a little chillier to start the day tomorrow, and we get a little warmer as the week goes on.”
Wednesday’s projected low is 52 degrees for Atlanta, according to Channel 2. By Friday, Monahan is calling for highs in the low 80s before a weak front moves into the region, bringing a few more clouds and some cooler conditions for the weekend.
The front will not bring any rain, he said. Weather this weekend should still be really nice, with afternoon highs in the lower to mid-70s and plenty of sunshine for outdoor activities.
On Sunday morning, Atlanta could wake up to temperatures in the 40s, according to the latest forecast.
