Sometimes in an effort to make their user interfaces cleaner and easier to use, Apple can disrupt the habits of its many millions of users. This is the case with its mobile Music app, the one people use to play their music library or to use the new Apple Music service on their iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices. But there are workarounds to getting back two features that seemed to disappear in the last Music visual overhaul.
The option to shuffle all songs from the song library list is now gone, but you can still get the app to do this by playing a song and then tapping the shuffle button, the second icon at the bottom of the screen. You can stop shuffling by tapping the button again.
In the past, a button that looks like a short bulleted list would take you the tracks of the entire album from the song that’s playing. Now that button takes you to an “Up Next” list of songs that will play later. To get to the album tracks, click on the three dots at the bottom right of the screen, then click on the song/album title. That’ll take you to the album track list. It’s not very intuitive, but at least it’s still possible.
