Gus Felder thanked the many Georgia fans and members of the community who have come to the aid of his family in the wake of a recent house fire.
By now a lot of folks have heard about the unfortunate incident that befell Georgia strength coach Gus Felder this past week. Well, after word got about the house fire that destroyed much of the second floor of his Bogart home, many have reached out to help the Felder family either individually or through the gofundme account his church established.
As of Sunday night, more than $31,000 has been raised to help the family with relocation and replacing all the possessions lost in the fire.
On Sunday, Felder sent me a thank-you note that and asked me if I could forward it to the many people who read about his situation here and responded to it.
So here it is:
March 11, 2015 will be a day we will always remember, not because of a mere house fire, which resulted in severe heat, smoke and water damage to our home, but more importantly, because my family was able to tangibly experience God's grace and mercy.
We often reflect on John 16:33, which says: "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."
As we have followed Christ, our family has begun to learn that we must allow our lives to be led by Christ rather than our circumstances. Through prayer, the Word and through our experience on March 11th, we are more convinced that although we don't know what the future holds we do know who holds our future. Romans 8:28 states that "God is able to work all things together for our good." Over the past few days, we have certainly experienced God's love through the actions of our family, friends, and fans.
We would like to share our deepest gratitude for everyone who has prayed for us, reached out to us, donated money to us and shared our story.
Although there are countless individuals to mention, we would like to send a very special thanks, first and foremost, to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for sparing our lives. We also would like to thank John & Kelly Thomas, Coach Mark Richt and the UGA family, the Oconee County school district, Bryant Johnson, Anthony Adams, the Calvary Bible Church Family, the entire Nittany Nation, the Bulldawg Nation, and our loving God-sent Pastor Thomas Settles. Words will not be able to express how thankful we are for everyone who has been there for us in our time of need.
"If the Lord delights in a man's way, he makes his steps firm; though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his Hand." – Psalm 37:23-24
Sincerely,
Gus, Kelly, Destiny, Jasmin, Alexa, Ej, and Faith
God Bless
