The movers did not arrive as scheduled so I headed to Target to buy air mattresses and sheets. It was much cheaper than a hotel. So we’ve spent two nights on the floor of the new house. No TV. No internet. That part is kind of nice.
I am pretty darn excited about the deck and green trees! I have missed green so much and rain too. Michael had to tell me to get out of the rain last night.
The drive across country from Arizona to New Jersey took four days. We stayed three nights in a beach rental on the Jersey shore and thank goodness we did because the hotel prices in our new town are outrageous! (How could a beach apartment be less than a town hotel?) We picked up the keys to the new house on Tuesday and the movers were supposed to arrive on Wednesday. The movers could not get a crew for that day so we were told they would deliver on Friday. (I am waiting on the movers now.) My former boss let us stay with her family Tuesday night but I didn’t want to impose on her longer so I headed to Target to buy air mattresses and sheets. I had towels because we use them in the car when the kids get chilly and at the beach. I had all of our toiletries from the drive. I had enough clothes, plus the house had a washing machine and dryer. I had paper plates, plastic cups and cutlery from the trip. They left the broiler pan in the oven and with a microwave there was plenty I could cook at home. I bought cleaning supplies, a big knife, and some laundry baskets and we have been fine for the last couple of days. The movers are supposed to come this morning although they are worried about getting the big truck back here so they are going to have load from one truck to another and then bring in a smaller truck. We’re just happy to finally be settled and not having to show a house. (The Arizona has still has not sold. So please pray that is sells soon.) The internet arrives on Monday. Michael set up a hotspot so I could write. More to come later.
I still have to figure out how to sanitize the jets in the new tub. The girls decided to experiment with it while I was outside and ended up shooting water all over the bathroom. They cleaned it up but used the towels I had just washed and then left them on the laundry room floor. Not helping.
