A Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to San Francisco had to make an emergency landing on Sunday night after a male passenger allegedly choked a woman after she reclined her seat.
The flight made an emergency landing because of a "rapidly escalating situation between two passengers," Southwest Airlines told NBC Bay Area. KBLX radio host Mark Curry, who was on the flight, told NBC Bay Area that he was asleep and awoke to a lot of commotion.
"A guy got into it with a lady and choked her or something," Curry said to NBC Bay Area. "The lady was frantic. They wanted me to put restraints on the guy. They asked me if I would help. I said, 'At 30,000 feet, yes! I'll beat anybody down.' It was an incredible situation."
Another passenger, identified as Melanie, told NBC Bay Area that the incident started when the woman reclined back in her seat and the man “started choking her. She shouted for help, and the crew came to see what happened. The man stayed very calm during the whole situation.”
According to NBC Bay Area, a short video was taken of the incident.
