Dear readers,
Every year I go to the beach with my family, just to relax and read.
I also like to take a golf trip each year with old friends. (I’m a poor golfer, but a good storyteller.)
When I go on vacation with my wife, we always return with a piece of art for our home. And when we take the kids on a trip, eating can be its own adventure as we sort vegetarian options for my wife and oldest daughter, the best wings for my son.
So what kind of traveler does that make me?
I can say all these things make me a great Southeast traveler because, in the eight states that make up our region, there is something for everyone.
That’s why I’m proud that The Atlanta Journal-Constitution can bring you our 2014 Best of the Southeast Travel section.
This resource will help you to plan your vacations through next year, and it also will help every kind of traveler find great things to do.
Are you a foodie?
You could try the boudin at the Baton Rouge Farmers Market.
If you are more the artsy type, like my wife, you won’t want to miss Finster’s Paradise Garden in Summerville.
Our journalists have identified 42 destinations throughout Georgia, the Carolinas, Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee that will appeal to travelers, no matter where their interests lie. And, perhaps, the quirky spots, like the Land of Oz theme park in Beech Mountain, N.C., will help to highlight some of the Southeast’s whimsy.
We hope that you’ll enjoy this special travel section.
Please tell me what you think: Write, email or share your thoughts (and your Southeast travel photos) on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
