Q&A: Jerick McKinnon, Georgia Southern

Georgia Southern quarterback Jerick McKinnon talked with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution about the keys to the Eagles’ season:

Q: In what area do you most want to improve in this year?

A: The passing game. There's some stuff that our coaches are putting in that should be really good this year. We're basically running the triple option, but trying to open up some things.

Q: Are you comfortable in the passing game? You’ve had a lot of success running the ball.

A: I would say so. We have a great group of young receivers with some veteran receivers. We have a lot of guys who can catch the ball and make the guys miss and make some positive plays from that.

Q: Have you watched film of Georgia Tech when Joshua Nesbitt was throwing to Demaryius Thomas to get a sense of the passing potential?

A: We watched that in previous years. We are trying to go back to square one with our mechanics. Not just me, but all of the quarterbacks are trying to improve.

Q: Who is the player to watch on offense this year? Who has caught your eye?

A: It's hard to pinpoint one person. We have a lot of guys who can make an impact when they touch the ball. I think our offense is going to be really good this year with the players we have, and the new players we have. I wouldn't be able to pinpoint one person.
