Republicans to blame for loss of All-Star Game
Republicans trying to whip up some schadenfreude over the World Series being played at Truist Park after Major League Baseball pulled the All-Star Game in protest of their voter suppression laws are missing the point.
The blame for the loss of the All-Star Game rests solely on their shoulders and trying to make political gain using a sports analogy does not work in their favor. Good sportsmanship requires a level playing field, respect for opponents, being fair and ethical, accepting and learning from mistakes and respecting the officials who make the calls.
The Republican party exhibits none of these traits. Instead, they change the rules to be in their favor, throw childish tantrums when they lose and loudly blame anyone but themselves for their losses. Sports is a game that requires integrity, something today’s Republican party has all but abandoned.

Why changing to permanent Standard Time makes sense
It’s that time of year again. Fall back is Nov. 7.
The thought of ditching that obnoxious alarm clock and waking with daylight instead of pitch darkness is so exciting. There will be evening fires, family movie nights and s’mores. Children and parents all over Georgia will rejoice as school bus stops finally occur in sunlight rather than the utter darkness that daylight saving time subjects them to.
Why do we observe the wrong clock for eight months each year? Let’s skip springing ahead next March. Permanent Standard Time is allowed under federal law, while permanent DST is not.
Summer provides so much light that evenings will have light past 8 p.m. anyway. So we could have light at both ends of the day. We could have fireworks before 10 p.m. It’s a win for everyone.
Tell your state and federal representatives. Georgia wants this to be the last clock change ever.
