A ceremony to mark the dedication of the Ga. 400-Interstate 85 interchange as the “Captain Herb Emory Flyover Ramp” will be held at 1 p.m. July 22 at the state Capitol.
Emory, who had been a traffic reporter for News 95.5 and AM750 WSB and Channel 2 Action News since 1991, died April 12, 2014 from a massive heart attack after stopping to help motorists at the scene of a car accident in Douglas County.
Sen. Mike Dugan (R- Carrollton) co-sponsored Senate Resolution 296 to name the interchange after him.
The two elevated ramps being named after Emory connect southbound Georgia 400 to Interstate 85 north and I-85 south to Georgia 400 north.
The state Legislature also passed House Resolution 398, sponsored by Rep. Micah Gravely, R-Douglasville, earlier this year, which dedicates the Lee Road bridge over Interstate 20 as the "Captain Herb Emory Memorial Bridge."
