But some of the tweaks they’re making underscore how far they have to go in changing perceptions. Fast food restaurants have been around for quite some time, and the aesthetics and menus have changed drastically through the years.

For example, McDonald’s only had nine items on its menu back in 1955. Now there are 100.

And it wasn’t until the 1970s that Mickey D’s and other fast food chains added a drive-thru window. Wendy’s was the first pioneer this idea.
