Police in London and representatives for the royal family are fuming at local paparazzi this week, saying cameramen have engaged in unreasonable tactics to photograph young Prince George.

The open letter, released by Kensington Palace, contains several strongly worded statements and scorns paparazzi for using tactics such as bait children to lure Prince George into playtime.

The letter notes a recent incident in which a cameraman was found holed up in his automobile, taking photos of the young prince through a telephoto lens from a hole in the back of the car.

“A photographer rented a car and parked in a discreet location outside a children’s play area. Already concealed by darkened windows, he took the added step of hanging sheets inside the vehicle and created a hide stocked with food and drinks to get him through a full day of surveillance, waiting in hope to capture images of Prince George,” a palace spokesman wrote.

“Police discovered him lying down in the boot of the vehicle attempting to shoot photos with a long lens through a small gap in his hide.”

Beyond reminding the media of the legal ramifications of stalking the young boy, the letter made note that the duke and duchess of Cambridge wish for a normal childhood for their children.

“Theey feel strongly that both Prince George and Princess Charlotte should not grow up exclusively behind palace gates and in walled gardens,” the letter stated.

“They want both children to be free to play in public and semi-public spaces with other children without being photographed. In addition, the privacy of those other children and their families must also be preserved.”

Along with the letter came a series of tweets from Kensington Palace thanking supporters who have found joy in the life of the royal family.
