Although that one suspect was originally reported, authorities now say multiple suspects are involved in multiple shootings.
A reporter from The Globe and Mail captured footage from the gunfire inside Parliament.
Canada's Prime Minister Stephen Harper was in Parliament at the time of the shooting, but has since been evacuated and is safe.
ABC reports the U.S. Embassy is also on lockdown following the shooting incidents.
Canada had actually recently raised its terror alert level after officials saw what they called an increase in online chatter from terrorist groups. No word on the motivations of this latest incident. The status of the soldier shot at the memorial is still unknown, though authorities say he is alive. Stay with Newsy for more updates.
