Kim Houston is lucky to be alive.

She crashed her car at the Greencove Dragway Saturday.

"When I came through the finish line my car turned on me and went into the wall," said Houston.

Her car hit the 5,800-pound cement wall going 121 miles an hour.

But it didn’t stop there.

"When I hit the wall it took the tire off and the brakes, and it shot me out to the trees," said Houston.

Doug Freeman Photography caught the entire crash on camera.

The owner of the track says safety is his main priority and both of his crash walls are up to code with insurance regulations.

"We have to have the crash walls going all the way on either side where spectators are and where there may be a return road," said Scalzo.

But Scalzo said even though it was a freak accident, he is going to make his track even more safe than regulations require.

He said he will build a guard rail around the trees Houston hit.

"God forbid it happens again, they'll be bounced off to the guard rail," said Scalzo.

Despite the crash, Houston said she’ll be out here again to race next week.

Scalzo said he wants to have the guard rail up in front of the trees by next week, as well.

Houston says she only received a scratch on her neck and a bruise on her knee.

She said it was her safety equiptment that saved her life.

Houston said they are currently looking for donations from the community to help rebuild her car.
