After Delray Beach police arrested Nikki Miciotta, for allegedly huffing computer duster spray cans, they found six of the nine cans in her possession were empty.
Placed in a patrol car, Miciotta escaped and a stun gun had to be employed before she was caught again.
Miciotta, 38, was arrested and charged with inhaling harmful chemicals, resisting an officer and escaping. She remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail, according to the sheriff’s office website.
On Thursday morning, police received an anonymous call about a woman huffing computer duster spray cans next to Delray Medical Center. Huffing, a general term used for inhalant abuse, gives abusers 15 to 20 minutes of euphoria, followed by dizziness, loss of coordination and sometimes hallucinations, according to the Mayo Clinic.
Police found the woman, later identified as Miciotta, with burn marks on her mouth, lips and face, which police noted is common with inhalant abuse. After a short chase, an officer placed Miciotta in handcuffs and put her in the back of the police car, according to the report.
As the officer picked up the cans for evidence, he said he heard a car door open and close. Miciotta made her way out of the handcuffs and ran from the car, according to the report. The officer deployed his Taser after she disregarded his commands to stop running.
In December, Miciotta was also charged with huffing, according to county records. In 2013, she was arrested and charged with DUI.
