Walmart to kick off its earliest holiday shopping season

The Black Friday holiday shopping season has kicked off significantly early for Walmart shoppers.

In an effort to combat the short window between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, Walmart launched a laundry list of toy, gaming and electronic deals on its site Oct. 25, with plans to offer additional rollback prices on hundreds more items throughout the season.

“Saving our customers time is also paramount at this time of year, especially with fewer days to get ready for big family meals, parties and gift giving. We’re making sure this season is the easiest yet for our customers with nine tech-enabled ways to shop for everyone on their list – when and how they want,” said Steve Bratspies, Walmart’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, in an online statement.

Dubbed its Early Deals Drop, Walmart.com released deals on everything from air fryers to trampolines on Oct. 25. Beginning Friday, customers for the first time will be able to use their iOS or Android phones to shop from the Scannable Toy Catalog, Walmart’s digital seasonal toy catalog.

Here are a few of the current sales available in-store and at Walmart.com:

In addition to the early sales, Walmart has also introduced a handful of new shopping features to add the value of convenience for customers, including its  Gift Finder, which provides gift options for 40 different types of gift recipients, free next-day delivery on select items and an expanded Check Out With Me option, which allows shoppers to avoid lines at the register and check out with an associate wherever they are in all Walmart Supercenters.

“This season, we are offering the ultimate in convenience for customers with new and existing ways to shop, so customers can prep for the season whenever and however they want. We’ve made it easier than ever for customers to tackle all of their holiday prep and more at Walmart,” said Ashley Buchanan, Walmart’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer, Walmart U.S. eCommerce, in a statement.
