An SUV traveling eastbound on I-285 crossed several lanes and flipped numerous times before landing upside down shortly after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

At least one person was entrapped in the wreckage and bystanders tried to free the person, but were unsuccessful.

Police and fire arrived about 8:15 p.m. and took control of the scene.

Several lanes were blocked for more than two hours as traffic snarled behind the wreck.

Dunwoody police said a wrecker was on the scene shortly before 10 p.m., but only two lanes were open and traffic was backed up along I-285, according to Georgia Department of Transportation cameras.

The wreck was cleared about 10:15 p.m. and traffic started moving again, albeit slowly.
