Q: Has there been any movement by the federal government toward claiming any of the fines owed by rancher Cliven Bundy?

—Phil Davis, Powder Springs

A: The trial is under way for the first six of the defendants facing charges associated with the 2014 standoff in Bunkerville, Nev.

Bundy continues to illegally graze cattle on public lands in southern Nevada and has been doing so for more than two decades in violation of three different federal court orders, a Bureau of Land Management spokesperson told Q&A on the News via email.

“The BLM will continue to work to resolve the matter both administratively and judicially,” the spokesperson wrote.

Q: Is it true that President Donald Trump is suing Palm Beach International Airport for damage to Mar-a-Lago? If so, what is the status of that suit?

—Don Penovi, Atlanta

A: The suit was voluntarily dismissed on Nov. 16, 2016, Palm Beach County officials told Q&A on the News via email.

“The lawsuit against the county was for $100 million in alleged damages to Mar-a-Lago, which the plaintiff claimed was the result of aircrafts flying over the property to and from Palm Beach International Airport,” writes David R. F. Ottey, chief assistant county attorney.

The suit was in the discovery process when the plaintiff “voluntarily dismissed it with prejudice” (meaning that another lawsuit cannot be filed based on the same grounds) after the election.
