Q: Is there any current news about the status of the “Octomom” and/or her eight children?

—Keith Quarterman, Atlanta

A: Natalie Suleman, known as Octomom, became famous after giving birth to octuplets in 2009 but struggled to provide for her family, which included six older children.

The Daily Mail reported that the family was receiving public assistance in 2012, and Suleman was back in the news after a nude photo shoot and an adult film in 2013, according to People magazine. Suleman has said that her choices were to provide for her family.

She told various media outlets that in 2013, she went back to working part-time as a counselor and receiving food stamps. Suleman was last in the news earlier this year for her octuplets’ eighth birthday. An Inside Edition video posted to YouTube on Feb. 6 shows the children eating vegan pizza and cake and cheering on their mother as she jumps off an inflatable slide.
