Q: Do you know how one can recycle trophies?

WILLIAM HAHN, STATHAM

A: Options include donating trophies or medals to a nonprofit thrift store. People have all kinds of uses for them, including as props, costumes and for crafting, Summer Dunham, spokeswoman for Goodwill of North Georgia, told Q&A on the News.

Some companies and organizations with trophy recycling programs, including Medals4Mettle (medals4mettle.org/donate), Lamb Awards & Engraving (lambawards.com/trophy-recycling) and Awards Mall — Total Awards & Promotions (awardsmall.com). Some programs have a fee. For example, Awards Mall’s nationwide trophy recycling program notes on its website that it has a $1 per trophy fee (with a minimum of $10) for trophies that are sent in. It rebuilds the trophies using the old parts and donates them to 501(c)(3) nonprofits around the U.S.

Q: Have any of the cast members of “Jersey Shore” gone into politics?

STEVE KANER, TUCKER

A: One cast member, Vinny Guadagnino, worked as an intern for New York State Assemblymember Michael Cusick, according to media reports.

When Vulture interviewed Guadagnino in 2010 and mentioned that reality TV stars have gone into politics, he replied, “What is American politics? You have to be smart, but it’s all campaigning — if people get a good vibe from you, if people recognize that you have a good head on your shoulders, and if people trust you. When you’re on the show and you’re out there in public, people get all of that. It’s like you’re campaigning for yourself with whatever you want to do. And I can definitely see politics as one of [those things]. You open up your soul to America.”
