Georgia Carry will celebrate the state's new gun law with a 5 p.m. get-together Tuesday at Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna.

The group and its more than 7,300 members lobbied heavily for the law, which expands where Georgians may legally carry firearms, including into public schools, bars, churches and government buildings under certain conditions.

The law takes effect Tuesday and has been the target of national gun control groups including those supported by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Hence, Georgia Carry’s “We beat Bloomberg and now we are celebrating with a big sugary drink!” party. Tickets are $15. Festivities include a “Zombie Apocalypse” airsoft target shoot, with participants taking aim at 16-ounce cups instead of zombie statues.
