Students in Decatur will return to school Monday after a wintry mix coated the ground into the weekend.

While school districts to the north, such as Cobb County, are remaining closed due to the effects of the snowstorm, including power outages, Decatur and surrounding DeKalb County emerged relatively unscathed.

A sunny Sunday helped to reduce the ice on roads in Decatur, where district spokeswoman Courtney Burnett said schools will operate on the normal schedule Monday.

The district alerted parents Friday afternoon that schools would close early as the storm was converging on Atlanta. It snowed and rained off and on into Saturday, with much of the snow clearing by Sunday afternoon.
