Hispanics support enforcement too
Senate Bill 6 will replace the driver’s license currently being issued to illegal immigrants who have deferred action on deportation with a card that clearly notes their illegal status. I am relieved to see it has passed the state Senate. However, I feel disappointment and dismay when I read comments by Republican Sen. Tommie Williams saying “Think about it. Why are we doing this? We are doing this because there are those in the hall that do not like brown people.”
I am a proud American who happens to be a bilingual Hispanic and who supports immigration enforcement. This brown person cannot help but wonder what Williams thinks about the brave Border Patrol Agents who risk their lives on our borders. About half of them are Hispanic. Williams’ race-baiting and smearing is so disgusting. Comments like these are usually made void of tact and when tired and hungry.

Taylor a friend to St. Simons residents
I and many other citizens who live in Saint Simons/Sea Island would like to thank Rep. Tom Taylor, R-Dunwoody, for having the guts to sponsor an Incorporation Bill allowing the electorate of Saint Simons/Sea Island to have the fundamental right to vote on the bill. Rep. Jeff Jones, who originally was asked to sponsor the bill and agreed to, buckled under pressure from special interest business groups who vehemently do not want to grant the citizenry the fundamental right to vote on the Incorporation Bill.
Thank you again, Rep. Tom Taylor, you have allowed the citizenry to pursue the fundamental, American right to vote.
