Mayor turns blind eye to homeless, traffic

What city does Mayor Kasim Reed live in? It seems that whenever I turn around, I hear another statement from the mayor that Atlanta is a great place to do business in and he is turning the tide on Atlanta’s homeless problem. Recently, I spent a couple of nights in the downtown area. I live in Douglasville, yet I work in Atlanta. Getting from my hotel 15 blocks to the Philips Arena, where I worked, took 50 minutes. Traffic was gridlocked at Ralph McGill between Peachtree and West Peachtree, yet no policeman was directing traffic. That simple change can transform the flow of traffic. Mr. Mayor, are you listening?

I was shocked at the hundreds of homeless folks sleeping on the sidewalks of Pine Street. This shows how little Mayor Reed regards those citizens who are struggling. We need homeless shelters and we need them right now. Mr. Mayor, are you listening?

Let’s hope VP candidates are more truthful

Based on the results of the Clinton-Trump debate last week, most people seem to feel that Trump lost. One announcer went so far as to validate certain comments made by the candidates, and it seems that both are liars, with Clinton lying five times and Trump 15. What a choice we have, but are they really that much worse than some we’ve had in the past? Clinton used the expression that Trump lives in his own reality. This seemed to sum up exactly where Trump stands, and maybe that is why most people feel he lost the debate.

Let us hope the vice presidential candidates are better prepared than Trump was, and maybe we’ll have an interesting debate.
