Women should be main home caretakers

The present discussion on the government providing child care has struck a sore spot in this old lady who has been around a lot longer than most (1924). Child care is the responsibility of the mother. Nowadays with the availability of birth control, a woman should not have children if she does not plan on being their caretaker. I have no statistics to back up my opinion, but I think if all mothers stayed home and took care of their children, there would be plenty of jobs for men so they could afford to take care of their families. If a woman wants to have a career and a family, she should put the career on the back burner until her children are old enough to take care of themselves.

I realize that circumstances vary, but the fact that many families today have both the husband and the wife working, it is no wonder that the children are given everything they want except for the personal “care” they need.

Clintons the victims of witch hunts

A recent reader wrote (“Clintons appear above the law,” Readers Write, Sept. 28) that the Clintons have been given a pass in our judicial system. Clearly the Clintons are one of the most investigated families in history. But not one of the many politically driven witch hunts has ever been able to establish any wrongdoing on the Clintons’ part. Instead, every single one of the investigations, which notably have largely been Republican-led, has exonerated the Clintons, including Hillary’s use of a private email server. You don’t have a rap sheet when you’ve never been convicted of a crime. I invite the reader to review the facts (i.e. official rulings), instead of accepting popular and highly misinformed opinions.
