Hypocrites decry vulgar private remarks
It is very interesting how the hypocrites of the world come crawling out of the woodwork every time a bit of dirt is uncovered about someone in the public eye. There is not a man alive that has not made a vulgar remark in a private conversation about a woman at some time in his life. I’ve done it, followed by pang of conscience, and have heard countless others from all walks of life do the same thing.

Deal wants to abolish public education
It’s curious that Nathan Deal and his administration have been non-stop at denouncing government interference in local matters. Now they’re all for it — the state stepping in to occupy our local schools under a guise of improving them via Amendment One, the Opportunity School District Amendment. If that were true, the state would already have been offering a program of technical assistance to school districts. But no, they’re now talking of converting from public to charter schools, and privatizing staffing and operations. Moreover, the state would confiscate our local school taxes; and do away with our elected school boards. Improve student performance? Hah! They’ll say and do anything to abolish public education. In the past, locally, the Office of the DeKalb Superintendent of Education seems to have been plagued with corruption and seat-warming. But now, DeKalb has a real superintendent, Stephen Green, who is advancing steadily at identifying and getting what our schools need. Yet, county power brokers are trying to induce him to divert much-needed school tax revenue to fund private business development projects. Let the man do his job. Vote no on Amendment One.
