Ga. should lure small biz, not Amazon
As far as I’m concerned, Amazon can take their jobs to some other state. Georgia has provided tax incentives to the movie and music industry to come here, which is not only terrible tax policy, but also is changing the culture of Georgia for the worse. These industries are bringing their West Coast values to Georgia, and Amazon would do the same. This influx of progressive, neo-Marxist values makes it more difficult to provide basic religious liberty protections to Georgians. Thirty-one states have these protections, including all the states surrounding us. I’m normally pro-business but the big corporations, sports leagues and Chambers of Commerce have become the bully enforcers of the radical left agenda. Georgia needs to encourage the formation of small businesses, instead of paying off these corporate bullies to move here.

Georgia should invest in renewable energy
In the Sept. 23 Business section, I sadly noted how a Georgia company using promising technology developed at Georgia Tech is now bankrupt, “Gwinnett solar firm wins ITC support,” while another article pointed to further delays and escalating costs associated with plant Vogtle, “Feds investigating Plant Vogtle nuclear project’s twin in S.C.” I believe Georgia would be much better off had the Public Service Commission decided to be a leader and invest in renewable energy projects, like clean, renewable solar energy. Taxpayers are on the hook for billions of dollars on the Vogtle project. What a difference being a national leader in solar technology would make – more jobs, enhanced reputation for the state, and protection of our environment. The PSC is now in the process of deciding whether to double down on a losing project (Vogtle). I urge them to cut our losses and invest in renewable energy. Due to our geography, Georgia has a natural competitive advantage; let’s use it.
