Caravan can’t be allowed to penetrate southern border

I have some sympathy for the Central Americans attempting to destroy our southern border with their caravans, but we simply cannot let them in and maintain our national sovereignty. Our nation cannot possibly absorb the untold tens of millions of people who will come here illegally if we fail to defend our borders. Unfortunately, the Democratic Party is more interested in using this as a campaign issue than it is about actually protecting the integrity of our nation. Force may be required to prevent the destruction of our borders and of our nation. Without effective implementation of immigration laws, the tidal wave of illegal aliens supposedly seeking to flee violence and poverty will stop only when the level of violence and poverty in this nation equals that of the nation from which they flee. Central Americans must rise up and remove their own corrupt leadership if they really desire freedom.

Regarding “Decency no longer matters for today’s Dems” (Readers Write, Oct. 14), how in the world could the writer feel that “American values no longer count in their eyes” when we have a president who feels no need to tell the truth and whose 5,000 lies since taking office have been fact-checked and proven? At political rallies, Trump dubs Democrats an angry mob when he has been stoking anger and division for over three years. His fans shouting “Lock her up” about a sitting U.S. senator illustrates his lack of commitment to the rule of law and due process. He shows no decency or compassion and mocks a sexual assault victim because his base allows him to get away with it and cheers him on. Truth, integrity, obedience to the law, respect, honor, decency and the desire to serve all Americans are traits this president lacks, and we are all the poorer for it.
