Dems’ finagling behind election mistrust

An attorney for Stacey Abrams recently stated Americans have lost confidence in our electoral process. He is correct, but not for the reasons he stated. The constant tweaking of elections by Democrats, like the large numbers of provisional ballots, many not correctly executed, are of great concern. Participants in political rallies who have been given a box lunch and $20 to come and wear a T-shirt; ballots from halfway houses and such, from people who have never voted and undoubtedly do not know the candidates or the issues; and the gleaning of homeless shelters for voters, are all examples of the tactics being used by Democrats to win elections. Yes, I am losing confidence in the accuracy of elections. We have laws, enacted by legislatures, to control the process. We cannot allow politicians to change them midstream.

What happened to election safety body?

Nov. 18’s Editorial page was rightly dedicated to election issues, but absent was mention of the Georgia SAFE Commission. Its only website update appears to be cancellation of the October meeting because of Hurricane Michael. What’s its status now – given one of the co-chairs was the then-secretary of state – and the charge of the commission to produce voting recommendations to the Legislature for the 2019 session? The AJC should cover this matter carefully, as well as the history of election security since Georgia bought our current system of electronic voting machines with no paper backup. Along with this crucial issue, there should be coverage of options for voter registration, voting and vote tabulation. And it would be good to inform us about the recommendations issued by the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine in September. The December runoff election is very important, because our future is.
